Railways Announce 244 Special Trains Ahead of Festive Rush
Indian Railways has announced 244 special trains nationwide to handle festive season rush as Christmas and Sankranti holidays boost passenger travel.

Indian Railways, with its continuous and steady rise in passenger traffic and the arrival of the festive season, declared 244 special trains in different parts of the country to meet the increased travel demand.
At the same time schools have announced holidays for Christmas and Sankranti, which has given rise to a lot of families planning to travel long distances. So, the reservations for some prominent routes are already fully booked. In order to help the passengers and provide a better travel experience, the Railways has deployed extra services in different railway zones.
In a Friday statement, the Railway Ministry mentioned that the introduction of more special trains is based on passenger demand and may take place in the next days. Mainly these trains will run on the routes with highest traffic in the country.
The main routes mentioned
As for the gateway Mumbai–Goa (Konkan) corridor, a special train will be running every day and every week between Mumbai CSMT/LTT and Karmali/Madgaon with stoppages at important stations. The Railways has moreover planned to provide more frequent services on certain routes like Mumbai–Nagpur, Pune–Sanganer, and several others both intercity and long-distance sectors.
Key cities interrelated
With the introduction of special trains, there will be better connectivity between the main cities like Delhi, Howrah, and Lucknow. Apart from these services, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and other significant cities are connected with additional services. The routes such as CSMT–Karmali, LTT–Thiruvananthapuram, Pune–Sanganer, and CSMT–Nagpur are the ones getting more trains.
Special attention to the Telugu states
There are a number of special trains that are running in the Telugu states where the demand is very high. Reports say that tickets for many of these trains have already been sold out
Advice for passengers
The Railways have made a strong suggestion to the passengers to purchase their tickets through IRCTC or the authorized reservation counters much ahead of time as trains during the festive season get completely booked very quickly. Moreover, the travelers are also recommend to be present at the railway stations at least 30 to 45 minutes prior to the departure time so as to cope with the large crowds and the security checks.
< The passengers are advised to take the most basic precautions while traveling such as taking essential medicines, water bottles, mobile chargers, and following the safety rules that are established during the peak period.
The Ministry of Railways once again gave its assurance of support in making travel during the festival season a safe and comfortable experience and that they will keep a close watch on the demand.
